Ugh, so annoyed that Justin has been MIA lately.
Where is Justin?
I hate being told to do something I was already planning on doing

Not taking any chances
I scrolled past this and the guilt was too much
arrow rewatch: deathstroke [2.18]
my teacher sent a student home today because the student had had an anxiety attack earlier in the morning and she said “if you have a broken bone, you don’t just keep walking on it and damaging it more, you treat it. Your mental health is the same. Health then school.”I was about to get really angry but it took a different turn than I expectedwe really need more teachers like this
I’m glad you asked, Anon!
Why? Because I believe Ray Palmer has the potential to be the best thing that could possibly happen to Olicity.
See, this early in the game, if Oliver and Felicity got together and everything worked out, then they would probably find a reason to break them up at the end of the season, sending them off in their different directions to live their separate lives. And that would be it. Olicity would have happened, and it would have failed.
But the very fact that they are keeping us right on the cusp, hanging onto the possibility that maybe, just maybe, it could actually be the real damn thing, that means it’s going to be a lot more epic love story than just a season-long fling, and there’s a much higher chance of them being endgame [emphasis on ‘chance.’ I am here to listen to whatever story the writers want to tell, and hopefully enjoy the hell out of it]. Felicity is no Helen Betinelli or Officer McKenna [both excellent characters in their own right, who helped Oliver to grow into the person he is now]. She’s not going to be a flame that’s hot for one to two episodes and then quickly burns out. The very fact that their going to have trouble at the very beginning of the season means there is so much more to explore there.
Enter: Ray Palmer. Just like Oliver has had numerous love interests in his life, helping him to grow as a person and change his outlook, Felicity needs to date a few Mr. Wrongs and Mr. Almost Rights before she can be sure that Oliver is the one for her. Oliver isn’t ready. He still thinks that it’s Arrow vs. Oliver Queen, and he can’t have both. Felicity, on the other hand, deserves to feel wanted and desired, and she should have the opportunity to grow as a person and mature through relationships other than her friendship with Oliver. And I would be horribly disappointed in her if she sat around and moped and waited for Oliver to get his life sorted out, letting him put her on hold. No healthy person should ever do that! And no one who truly loves you would ever ask you to.
"Hey, I love you, but I don’t think we can ever be together. But, y’know, just in case, would you mind waiting for me for your entire life? Because you never know! Maybe possibly someday it might potentially actually happen. I think."
I repeat. NO ONE WHO TRULY CARES FOR YOU WOULD EXPECT THIS FROM YOU. So by all means, Felicity, go out and have the time of your life and explore the possibility that maybe Oliver Queen isn’t the only man who can make you happy.
Ray Palmer himself? Let’s put it this way: if the man is as into Felicity Smoak as I think he is, then he’s already proven he has superb taste. As long as he treats her right, I expect to simply adore him. And I will hope for his eventual happiness every bit as much as I am hoping for Oliver and Felicity’s respective happiness.
Besides that, I think it will be a healthy reminder to Oliver that if he doesn’t choose to fight for Felicity, then someone else may very well swoop in and do it for him. Sometimes you need a little fire lit under you, know what I’m sayin’?
TLDR: Basically I’m just super stoked. I think I’m going to love Ray. I think I’m going to enjoy watching him be happy. I’m going to enjoy watching him make Felicity happy. And I’m going to really enjoy watching Oliver learn that as much as he wants Felicity to be happy, what he really wants is to be the one making her happy.
